Rochestown Road Upgrade

Major upgrade works to this extremely busy artery of Cork city that had suffered severe degradation and subsidence and the construction of a new road lane to provide better access to the St Patricks round-about. With minimum disruption to traffic we carried out the following:

  • Removal of broken road surface and base and the subsequent construction of new road
  • Road overlay to sections of road not as badly deteriorated
  • Construction of new stone boundary wall
  • Creation of new road lane & protection to existing underground utilities
  • New road signage works
  • Drainage works
Dungarvan – Go Smart Scheme

Dungarvan – Go Smart Scheme

As part of the Dungarvan Town Council “Go Smart” pilot scheme to provide for the needs of cyclists and pedestrians at the Burgery in Dungarvan through the installation of traffic calming measures. The works included:

  • Installation of new street lighting and associated new electrical ducting
  • Creation of new concrete traffic calming islands
  • Landscaping works
  • Footpath and pedestrian crossings construction
  • Drainage works
  • New road signage works

Little Island Junction Upgrade

Over the Winter of 2012 / 2013 we carried out junction upgrade works to the Ballytrasna junction to a live road that was kept open at all times for the duration of the works. The works included:

  • New traffic and pedestrian crossing lights
  • Construction of new footpaths
  • Landscaping of new junction
  • Complete macadam overlay of junction
  • Drainage works
  • New road signage and marking works

Millstreet Town Square Refurbishment 2013

The existing car park surface and the adjoining footpaths have all been removed and replaced with a new surface. The works include:

  • New asphalt carpark laid to falls
  • Construction of new footpaths

  • Drainage works

Fermoy - Ballyhooley Traffic Calming

Fermoy & Ballyhooly Street Traffic Calming Works

As part of traffic calming works under taken in the town of Fermoy & the village of Balleyhooly the works carried out included:

  • Creation of controlled pedestrian crossings with associated traffic light installation
  • Creation of concrete traffic islands
  • Alterations to existing footpaths
  • New line markings
  • Construction of traffic calming measures

Killarney Main Street

High Street & Main Street Footpath Upgrade, Killarney Co. Kerry

Upgrade and widening of the existing kerbs and footpaths on Main Street, High Street & College Street, Killarney Co. Kerry. The works were carried out on live streets with minimal disruption to pedestrians, vehicular traffic and the town traders. The success of the project was down to a strong working relationship with Killarney Town Council and all the effected local business’s

  • Existing concrete kerbs replaced with limestone kerbs
  • Existing concrete paving slabs replaced with cantera flags
  • Existing surface water drainage upgraded
  • New street bins and bollards fitted

Clonakilty UGB Works 2015

Clonakilty UBG Works 2014

Major resurfacing works carried out across the town of Clonakilty in the winter of 2014. Also included were traffic calming measure, footpath repairs and wall construction. Works carried out included:

  • Approximately 3000m2 of road planing & resurfacing works carried
    out on Lamb St, Patricks St & Tawnies Crescent
  • Replaced concrete entrance to Catholic Church carpark
  • Renewed 300m2 of concrete footpaths town wide
  • Widened pedestrian footpath on Fernhill Rd. and constructed new wall
  • Constructed traffic calming measures town wide

Old Cork Road Mallow

Old Cork Road Mallow

Removal and replacement of the existing broken concrete footpath. The new concrete footpath was laid to new falls to prevent the existing ponding re-occuring. The footpath was future proofed with the inclusion of electrical ducting and associated pull chambers. All the residents vehicle and pedestrian access was maintained throughout the works which also included:

  • New sub base included upon removal of the existing path
  • New concrete channel
  • Re-inforced paths to all vehicle entrances

North Street Skibbereen

Footpath upgrade works to both side of North Street carried out over spring 2014. The works on this busy residential and retail street consisted of:

  • The excavation and removal of approx. 650m2 of existing footpaths and
    associated kerbs and their replacement with a new footpath
  • Replacement of the existing sub base of the footpath with new sub base
  • Planing out and the resurfacing of approximately 850m2 of existing street road
    road surface with a new stone mastic asphalt road surface
  • Upgrade the existing surface water drainage
  • Minimal disruption to residents, pedestrians & vehicles

Leo Murphy Road

Leo Murphy Road Junction Ballincollig

Revised layout to a previously signalised junction. These works were carried out to the busy intersection for the Ballincollig link road and the main road to Cork City with no road closure’s and minimum disruption to pedestrians. The works included:

  • New traffic calming Island construction
  • Re-profile the existing road layout
  • Construction of new pedestrian crossings
  • Road resurfacing works and the inclusion of a speed ramp

Old Fort Road Ballincollig

Old Fort Road Junctions, Ballincollig

Reprofiled two existing junctions on the Old Fort Road to improve the traffic calming measures in this busy residential area. The works included:

  • New pedestrian crossing
  • Alterations to the existing drainage to suit the new profile
  • New footpaths and enhanced landscaping works
  • Construction of new asphalt table-top ramp
  • Relined the road to suit new road profile

Market Square Mallow

Market Square, Mallow

Alterations to the street to improve the traffic calming features at a busy uncontrolled pedestrian crossing at the Market Square retail development on William O’Brian Street, Mallow. Works involved included:

  • Reprofile eastern side of road to better suit vehicles
  • Filling in of a number of parking spaces on the western side to suit pedestrians
  • New solid limestone kerbs fitted site wide
  • Fitted new paving to match the existing paving
  • Fitted new bollard sockets and reused the existing bollards

R620 Junction Upgrade Mallow

R620 Junction, Mallow

Carried out re-profile works to the four road junction on the Old Cork Road. The existing intersection at this busy junction was altered to improve traffic calming and make it safer to pedestrians. The works included:

  • Breaking up and removal of the existing footpath, widening the path and
    creating new concrete paths
  • Alterations to the uncontrolled pedestrian crossing
  • Creation of a new signalised controlled pedestrian crossing
  • Replaced and enhanced surface water drainage
  • Created new landscaped areas the junction

St Patricks quay carpark

St Patricks Quay Carpark, Bandon, Co. Cork

Resurfaced the existing carpark with minimum disruption to the carpark. The works consisted of:

  • Improved carpark drainage and connection to the towns sewers
  • Construction of new concrete island and underpinning of existing masonry
  • Approximately 1500m2 of new carparks surface including all line markings
